The
most common questions I git, and sum answers! This
will get longer as "Q" and "A's" get added
! |
| Q : How do I know if my computer has a
problem? |
A: Usually it’s the most obvious, the
machine is slower than before, you have lots of pop ups,
icons disappear, mouse moves by itself. |
| Q : When do I bring my machine in for
service? |
A:You should bring your computer in for
service the moment you see that something is wrong
that you can’t fix yourself. If you wait too long
the problem that you have could get potentially worse.
If your computer has a virus and you wait too long to
eradicate them, it’s possible you could lose all your
data. |
| Q : Who should I bring my computer
to? |
A: You should bring it too someone you
trust. Usually word of mouth travels fast on whom great
computer works with reasonable pricing. |
| Q : When I need service what should I
bring? |
A: I would call the shop 1st and find out
what they need. For the most part they will need the
computer box and software. No cords, monitors, keyboards
and mice, they should have all
that. |
| Q : I have a computer running (windows 98se,
windows me) I want to upgrade to windows xp, what do I
need? |
A: From experience upgrading to windows xp
you must take a lot into consideration. Is your CPU
running at least 400 MHz? Does your computer have at
least 256mg of ram? These are the basics so xp will run
smoothly. The next thing should look at is backing up
all the stuff you want to keep. The best way to install
Windows XP is a clean install. Installing Windows XP on
top of another operating system like Windows 98 or
Windows ME is not recommended, it will cause problems
down the road. **Note that 1 license number to each
computer. So if you borrow a cd from your friend and try
to use it, you will not be able to activate it and your
computer will not work after 30 days. It is also
illegal. |
| Q : My computer has been in storage for a
while and it’s dusty and dirty. Should I put it in the
shower and wash it? |
A: Ha ha ha NO!!! I got a question
like that once. Instructions on how to keep your
computer clean are on the HOW DEW page.
|
| Q : My computer died. It used to work great.
Should I just go out and buy a new one? |
A: If you computer is fairly new and it
died, I would look into getting it repaired. It could be
something really simple and inexpensive to fix. Here's
an example, a power supply went out and the customer
thought it died and was no good. The power supply was
replaced for under $60.00. Save yourself some money and
have it checked out 1st. |
| Q : I just got my computer back from the shop
and I can’t get online. What’s wrong? |
A: On the back of the computer you will see
that the MODEM has 2 places for the phone line to plug
into. One is the LINE side and the other is the PHONE
side, the phone wire has to plugged into the LINE side
only. |
| Q : I just bought a new game for my computer
and it won’t work. What do I do? |
A: You should always read the minimum
requirements on the side of the game box before buying
it. If your machine doesn’t meet the requirements or
just barely does DO NOT BUY THE GAME. Your machine
should run 300 or more MHZ than recommended.
